Be it some aesthetic bookstagram, or the literary critic among your friends; you’ll somehow get to know about the books making a buzz in society and the readers’ minds in general. Despite the huge number of works getting published every now and then, only a few can be cut out to be the best sellers. Here are the 5 most adorned American books to be kept on your shelves as discussed by the readers’ and collectors alike.

THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“It’s not so great being loved for something you didn’t do.”

A New York Times bestseller cannot lie about its impact on the readers. Over a million copies have been sold already and lakhs of people have rated it as their favorite. So what’s this historical fiction all about? What keeps the audience hooked even if they haven’t tried a book of this shade before? A reader would love to pick up a book revealing juicy scandalous affairs of a reclusive Hollywood movie star, won’t they? This book deals with sexuality, race, and misogyny and presents the controversial philosophy of retaining one’s identity without pretending to be what they are not. Truth be told, the heartbreaking reality of life when presented in a well thought-out setting, the work achieves different heights just like The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig

“I may not have been sure about what really did interest me, but I was absolutely sure about what didn’t.”

Selling over 1.5 million copies, The Midnight Library, with its intriguing plot and characters, has found a special place in the readers’ hearts. When a reader gets to imagine a world with their field of interest enhanced into different manifolds, they wouldn’t simply let it sink among the unknown. A library that has an infinite number of books is tempting to the audience, isn’t it?

IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover

“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”

When the Mill Brothers said “If I broke your heart last night, It’s because I love you most of all”, they probably did not know that a book would reflect their ideology so aptly. This anticipated book sold over a million copies and almost won as many hearts.

The feeling of having someone stuck in your head is a very personal and overwhelming feeling and when the author plays with such emotions, most often the readers find their mind and soul being haunted by the heartbreaking consequences, hailing the piece till they can’t help otherwise. It Ends with Us takes you on an emotional roller coaster that you’d never be perfectly ready to ride.

THE SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller

“And perhaps it is the greater grief, after all, to be left on earth when another is gone.”

Just one year after its release, The Song of Achilles sold 164,000 copies. It takes up a controversial topic and embellishes it with the author’s creativity, so well that whoever reads it gets under the spell and would definitely recommend it to someone else.

It is not a wonder that even after 10 years, this book is just as famous as if was fresh out of the press. The way it treats the relationship between the protagonists is very simple, engaging, and heartwarming. Readers across the globe have listed this book as their all-time favorite and that is the reason it has been a best seller for years.

WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING by Delia Owens

“I wasn’t aware that words could hold so much. I didn’t know a sentence could be so full.”

The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2019 and 2020, Where the Crawdads Sing has sold over 4.5 million copies. The subtle style of narration and an engaging story of a girl isolated in the Marsh of North Carolina.

This book has a lot to offer, for a wide range of readers, from mystery to romance, it covers it all. This book is also dedicated to nature in a way that might be more interesting to modern readers than they think. While the book deals with the protagonist’s lonely life, her ups and downs, it sends a message to the audience: ‘to hope’. It is thoroughly a good book that has marked its place in the right ranks.

All these books mentioned above, deserve a lot of attention and appreciation. These books are easy to absorb and leave you with a feeling of satisfaction, or maybe emptiness. However, they would surely take you on emotional rollercoasters.
